Start with how the home is used
Name the room or belongings affected and whether the concern is recurring. Explain if the property includes a home office, a separate unit or a shared entrance. The information helps keep the proposed visit tied to the actual spaces rather than a generic whole-property request.
Plan for people, pets and belongings
Ask for preparation instructions suited to the agreed work, including what to move and when spaces can be used again. Mention any practical difficulty carrying out the instructions before the appointment. There is no reason to move every piece of furniture before the assessment has been discussed.
Keep ownership and access clear
For a rental, identify the person who can authorize work and any building repairs. Ask whether common spaces, exterior edges or outbuildings are included. Keep the proposal and instructions available to everyone involved so the visit does not depend on messages being passed on from memory.
Does residential service include the garden?
Only when it is included in the agreed scope. Name indoor areas, the yard and separate structures individually when enquiring.
