What have you noticed?
- An insect trail returning to the same place
- Ant-like insects by a doorway
- Winged insects needing identification
These observations help begin an assessment; they do not confirm a diagnosis.
Describe where the trail begins and ends
Note the room, surface and nearby opening where the insects appear. An approximate size and a clear photo may help more than a guessed name. Tell us whether the trail is indoors, outdoors or crossing a threshold, and whether it changes through the day.
Do not assume winged insects are termites
Ants and termites can both have winged forms. Identification should come before agreeing to a treatment for structural pests. If you also notice wood changes, describe them separately and mention known leaks or repair work. Ask whether the accessible exterior is included in the ant assessment.
Before you arrange the visit
Give the full address, the affected rooms or structures and the person who can provide access. Confirm the work included, preparation, pricing and any later checks. Let us know if specialist access or a particular document is required.
Should I ask for indoor and garden work together?
Explain both observations, then confirm which locations and pests the proposal covers. A kitchen enquiry should not leave the exterior scope ambiguous.
